Frequently asked Questions

1. What is the community like with Yoga Teacher Training, will I be able to make new friends?

Yes, absolutely. One of the most beautiful parts of the training is the community that forms as the year progresses. You’re journeying together, week after week, through some really meaningful inner work.

Many students come in feeling nervous or unsure, but when we gather in a space that’s honest, supportive, and grounded in shared values something special happens. Real friendships form, ones where you feel seen, encouraged, and accepted just as you are.

That doesn’t mean people won’t push your buttons, some will, but you’re in a safe container to be supported in finding new ways to deal with little interpersonal difficulties.

I’ve watched people walk in as strangers and leave with lifelong friends. ❤️

2. Why should I choose a 350-hour training instead of a 200-hour?

A 200-hour training builds introduces you to key postures, basic pranayama, and the fundamentals of yoga philosophy and anatomy. But for many new teachers, 200 hours isn’t enough to confidently support the wide variety of students who show up in real classes – people in larger bodies, those healing from injuries, beginners with limited mobility, or students managing chronic conditions.

Our 350-hour training takes you deeper. You’ll develop the skills to adapt your teaching for different body types, ages, and health needs, and create intelligent sequences that honour the breath and nervous system. You’ll also explore meditation, chanting, Sanskrit, yoga relaxation, bandhas, kriyas, and specialist areas like pregnancy, kids, seniors, and mental health. You’ll graduate with confidence in your teaching, and with a supportive community around you.

3. What is the benefit of this training being registered with Yoga Australia?

Yoga Australia is the leading professional body for yoga teachers in Australia. Being registered means the training meets nationally recognised standards in content, delivery, and assessment. Training with a registered provider adds credibility to your qualification and increases employability with studios and trust with students. Yoga Australia also advocates for Yoga teachers with the Australian government and other relevant bodies in Australia.

4. Can I do this training alongside work and parenting?

Yes many of our students are working professionals, parents, or both. The training is designed with real life in mind, blending in-person weekends with online study during school terms. Most classes are recorded and available to watch later and we also offer ongoing support and flexibility where possible to help you to complete the training.

5. How many students are in each training group?

We keep our groups small and personal, with a maximum of 15 students per location. This allows for more connection, individual support, and a stronger sense of community throughout your training journey. Twice a year you will group together with one of the other regional cohorts to build connection and learn with the wider Yogic Wisdom community.

6. What if I can't make it to every training session?

We understand that life happens. While it is a requirement for students to attend at least 80% of classes, most sessions are recorded so you can catch up if you miss a day. If you fall below the 80% attendance requirement, we offer one-to-one support from teachers to help you stay on track and complete the training confidently.

7. Is the training suitable for different bodies and abilities? What if I have a disability?

Yes absolutely. Our training is built on the belief that yoga should be adapted to the individual, and not the other way around. We use props and offer modifications to make the practice accessible for all body types, ages, and abilities. Our youngest student has been 17 and our oldest student has been 82. You don’t need to be flexible, athletic, or have a certain look to belong here.

We also welcome NDIS participants and support workers into our community. Although the NDIS does not currently fund yoga teacher training, if you’re working with a support team, we’re more than happy to accommodate their involvement in your learning journey. We have had many students participate in the past with an NDIS support worker to help them.

If you have any health concerns or specific physical needs, please reach out so we can chat about how we can support you.

8. Do I need to be physically fit or advanced in yoga to join?

Not at all. You don’t need to be advanced in your practice, or even be able to do every pose. Many students join while pregnant, recovering from surgery, or working through their own health journeys, modifying the practice to suit their needs.

9. Do I need any experience before starting the training?

No previous training is required. The training is open to anyone who feels called to deepen their understanding of yoga, whether your goal is to teach or simply to explore the practice more fully. A love of yoga, a willingness to learn, and an openness to grow are the only prerequisites.

10. What if I am unsure if I want to teach yoga, can I still do the training?

Yes absolutely. Many people join our training not to become yoga teachers, but to deepen their personal practice, explore the philosophy, and reconnect with themselves in a meaningful way. This training is just as much about inner transformation as it is about learning to guide others.

We know it’s a big commitment, but for many, it becomes a turning point and milestone for growth and self-discovery. You’ll be supported every step of the way by a community of like-minded people and experienced teachers.

If you’re feeling the pull but have questions or doubts, reach out – we’d love to talk it through with you!
